are you ready for another round??? it's been awhile and i am happy to introduce to you round 7 of the sweetpea swap: Something old, Something new... this swap is sweet and simple and perfect for us all... it's all about mixing our passions for vintage and/or thrifted items to shopping for new and wonderful goodies... from vintage tea towels or toys of yester year to modern scrapping products or candy... thrifted aprons or new handmade aprons... vintage cards to modern funky (even kawaii) cards and stationery... it's a great swap for mingling the goods we enjoy from all eras... [after all, there are plenty of us who will watch x-files in one hour and i love lucy in the next]
for those of you who enjoy creating, you can make your swap buddy a handmade item... that is one of the best parts of swapping; something made with love and care! for those of you who love thrifting and shopping, i am sure you can find an array of goodness for your buddy... either way, you can send old and new items to your buddy that suits her interests... be it sewing, crafting, eating sweets, drinking coffee, caring for her pets and/or kids... please make sure to check out your partners likes and dislikes as well as what they enjoy doing in their spare time... if they have animals or kid, sending something for them is a thoughtful idea... you need only to spend $10- $15 max... keep in mind shipping costs and making sure that all goodies are shipped on time
shipping dates are from October 22nd to October 27th.... this gives you time to meet your swap partner! feel free to email her with any questions or to further introduce yourself.... stop at her blog or flickr page for more info as well... you will have enough time to shop, create, rummage, thrift, and enjoy this swap... it's an easy and open round so there should be no excuses as to why we can't ship out on time... even though we may procrastinate, it's unfair if your swap buddy rushed to send out their package and you decided not to be as prompt...
again, this round is pretty simple and versatile... i try to keep most rounds fairly open to attract a variety of people and their interests... with the help of my mom, we look forward to making this new round a success and a wonderful swap for us all... if you are interested in reading more about the sweetpea swap, in general as well as the past rounds, please go here...
so hurry and fill out the questionairre below! make sure to email me with answers and i will set you up with a partner ASAP.... you only have a week to sign up!!!!!
1. your name, email, and mailing address
2. website and/or flickr addy, swapbot profile link
3. what do you do with your time?
4. what do you love lots and lots (collections? hobbies? colors? certain material?)
5. what kind of sweets and candies do you like? and what don't won't you dare ever eat?
6. for crafty purposes, do you have favored colors and/or patterns?! (as in, what's your style?) please also include what you do not like...
7. lastly, are you willing to ship internationally?
*the above icons are free to use solely for linking sites from yours to mine... please download the button first to your computer before adding it to your site... you can use this link, as it will take you to this round directly...

this round is now closed... sorry!!!
who needs a valentine? well, another round of the sweetpea swap is finally here and there is a valentine buddy just for you... this time, there are only 30 spots so please sign up ASAP... (yes, i put a limit this time for my sake).... it's time to turn on the creativity and make someone's valentine extra special and fill their day with candy, crafty goods, and maybe some handmade love as well...
this round isn't limited to a valentine theme, but having a valentine card for your swap buddy would be cute... how many of us still get them?! ever since grade school, my list of valentine buddies has gone down... the thrill of receiving handmade or cutesie or themed cards shouldn't diminish in time... aside from the cards, this swap can include anything that makes our crafting life more loveable... be it paper, or ribbon... some vintage epherma or some aprons to entice us to bake.... perhaps, fabric and embroidery notions fancy you.... do you swoon over unique stamps and stickers? whatever your assigned buddy drools over, would be a wonderful gift to send her way... you need only to spend $10- $15 max; but if you use your creativity, i am sure that will be just as loved... (we all appreciate the time it takes to make something handmade, so adding a bit of your unique work should make your valentine giddy with delight)
oh, but can we forget that valentine's also means candies?! yum yum.... a bit of chocolate or candy can make your buddy happy and perhaps hyper... for some of us, we like to take a break from our work and indulge ourself in a sweet treat... ah, to craft and bite into a small piece of milk chocolate (ok, i am fiending at the moment)... so find out what your valentine likes and be sure to add a teeny bit inside that box or envelope... shipping dates are from february 5th to february 9th.. this gives you almost 4 whole weeks to shop, create, rummage, thrift, and enjoy this swap and meet your buddy....
please read: now, i must emphasize this: for courtesy sake, please be on time shipping this round... there are exceptions, of course- but if you run into any snags, email your buddy to let them know... it would be wonderful if we all swapped on time so that every single person gets their package by valentine's day... i have had many wonderful participants in the past, and i would love to keep it up... i personally think it's unfair if your swap buddy rushed to send out their package and you decided not to be as prompt... it can turn any swapper off, and we don't want that, right?! like i said, it's been a fun 4 rounds so far, so let's make 5 smashin'!!!!
if you want to know more about the sweetpea swap, check out this link, where i've outlined the basic idea... please fill out the below questionairre and email me with answers... i will set you up with a partner ASAP....
and onto the questions:
1. your name, email, and mailing address
2. website and/or flickr addy
3. what do you do with your time?
4. what do you love lots and lots (collections? hobbies? colors? certain material?)
5. what kind of sweets and candies do you like? and what don't won't you dare ever eat?
6. for crafty purposes, do you have favored colors and/or patterns?! (as in, what's your style?) please also include what you do not like...
7. lastly, are you willing to ship internationally?

first off, does anybody else want to sign up for the christmas vintage swap? there is still room and i do need one person at least to break the uneven number :) no pressure though! if you do wanna join, please check out the link and email me! it's gonna be fun!
and now, as promised here are some ideas of swap items to send:
as we know, the theme is a christmas vintage swap... but of course, the swap isn't limited to those boundaries... so what kind of things could you send? most everyone loves candy and sweets of all sorts... yes, that isn't vintage but vintage lovers love to munch too, ya know?! or some gourmet coffee or cocoa! and what about a wonderful recipe that may or may not be old? gramma's famous gingerbread cookies....or aunt martha's salad dressing (haha, joke, what show was that from?!) sending a sweet recipe to a person who enjoys baking, would be ideal
and then for the vintage part... cookbooks are always a winner... cookbooks of all sorts.. they can be christmas related or not, but cookie cookbooks do have christmas recipes, ya know? and then we have magnets too! handmade, retro, modern that look retro, magnetic notepads, all stuff many people like... not everyone though- so don't quote me... and aprons!! a vintage apron would be darling to wear for the christmas season... or to wear for that meal you are desperately preparing all night and day for, so people can eat it all in a quarter of the time it took you to make! yes, aprons are a winner too!!! handmade with vintage material or a thrifted apron... or handmade with the kind of fabric your partner swoons for...
also, christmas cards of all sorts would be fun to send... that way, they can use the cards to send to those lovely people... it can be retro cards or handmade! and you can find christmas cards at the thrift stores easily so sending a variety won't be criminal.... or how about christmas tags??!! wouldn't you like to stick a cute tag on a gift to someone you love?! and so we fit into era chosen for this swap, feel free to use vintage wallpaper for the tags, retro looking images, etc... (however, you don't have to! handmade is sweet enough).... oh yes, we cannot forget about the retro christmas books or maybe records if your partner likes them...
we can't forget those cute retro ornaments sold at thrift stores... the cute elves with the funny legs or the slightly yellowed decorated ones.. either way, be sure that if its fragile, its packed well, since the older ornaments are extra delicate... and there is vintage nic nacs too... pretty angels or elves or santas for whomever likes figurines...
there is also old/new fabric to send to fabric lovers, craft items to send (again, old or new) so that your partner can MAKE items for christmas... if they knit or crochet, you can send them yarn so they can make a pretty project.... there is also retro books/magazines for knitters and crocheters that have wonderful winter projects... that fits the theme too! even retro holiday magazines would be lovely!!!
since i am a paper lover, feel free to send paper, vintage or not... again, this sort of item can be used by your partner to make goodies for someone... yes, no matter the theme, i send paper to people :D and wrapping paper! lovely vintage wrapping paper or even the cute modern kind... most definitely it will be used, eh? and ribbon of all decades too! not just for sewing but it can be used for crafting and toeing up pretty gifts...
lastly, we can't forget handmade items in general... i mentioned a few earlier but with so many different crafters, there is so many items! a scarf or mittens.... a handmade notebook or useful items (like storage items).... there is handmade jewelry and plush items... pin cushions and needle/hook holders... there are pretty mugs and beautiful oven mitts... or even handmade cookies; feel free to send that too!!! ohhhh, so many sweet items that you can make- whatever your talent holds!
these are just ideas for you.... that is how i swap and how people have swapped with me... i have never been disappointed with any items i've received... if you have more ideas, please comment and share! we'd love to hear!
