another weekend's worth...

remember that paperbag book i am working on? you can see the photos and read up on the project here... well, here is the front part of the insert to the book... diego getting a bath at 9:46pm... well, by that time, he is nearly ready to get out of the tub... he goes to bed at 10pm so diego gets a bath rather late.... and ramel has been sweet enough to handle this time for me, while i finish emails and get prepped for artwork after 10....

and here is the back of the insert.... cooking as close to 8pm as possible... ramel works until 8 so i try to cook a meal that will be hot for us all while we eat together.... i rarely cook a bird that big because only ramel eats meat around here... diego isn't a big fan of it, which is fine by me.... i wish i had wallpaper this cool in my kitchen, but so far, all i have is a dull white paint, that is flat (thus, hard to clean).... one day i will be able to paint the house- one day.... 

behind the refridgerator is a pull out tab... this holds my bio/info.... it's about how i utilize my time and how i try to cram as much as i can into my days... i try to use my time wisely since there is so much to do including cleaning, keeping a toddler happy and healthy, cooking, and working on art.... i can be obsessive with my cleaning at times, which ends up turning into frustration, so these days i try to relax... no use getting frustrated with my time, eh?! i am pretty happy with the turnout of this project thus far... i can't wait to work on everyone else's pages...

and then over the weekend, i made a few items for people... this is a card for someone... it is inspired by my miss quilty... so now i wanna make more of these cards to sell in the shop!!!


and this li'l notebook is for a mini swap.... i finished this last night and while i should have worked on more art, i ended up emailing all the people that were waiting on an email... tonight i have several sketches to work on, and laying out color/picking out paper for a ton of projects... my plate is full, but there are NO complaints....

lastly, diego got a haircut over the weekend... it was done by yours truly, and all i can say is thank goodness he has curly hair... if it was straight, you'd be able to see that i am no pro- haha.... his hair was getting quite unruly, especially since he doesn't like people to mess with it... now he looks like a grown boy :)

random side notes:
1. i have heartburn so bad that nothing is working....
2. diego likes when ramel and i play "mario kart" together
3. in the original star wars movies, they do alot of yelling!!! the princess and hans solo are always yelling up a storm... ever noticed that? 

valentine card packs in the shop

this will be a short post since i have to cook before 8pm (leaving me less than a half hour to do so)... anyhow, each of these images are of my new valentine 4pk notecard sets... they are 3.5x 4.75" and are made with a silver metal backing... you use a permanent marker to write a note on the back... they make a great card to send out plus a perfect keepsake too.... so a gift and card in one :)... each pack is $6.00 and they all have pretty matching envelopes... so check them out in my shop....

we found out the gender :)

well, even though the insurance normally only covers one ultrasound, my midwife ordered another one for me.... i told her that i was sad that i couldn't find out the gender and when she measured my belly, she said i was small... the perfect reason to get another ultrasound :) and so, today i went, with the fullest bladder around.... and whadda know?! the baby decided to show us that she is a girl!!!!!!!

she has a nose like diego and the roundest noggin (like diego).... she likes to play with her toes and her umbilical cord.... she is already facing head down and so my getting kicked all the time in the ribs makes sense... and her bump is always trying to squeeze by the ribs too.... her feet are right on my belly so all the many movements i feel, i fully understand now :) she is quite the wiggler and i am just so darn happy that i can stop calling the baby, "the baby" or "it"... ah, i am too happy to even work on art!

and now, for the art news.. i am participating in my first paperbag book swap hosted by theresa... i wanted to do a more collage style, like most people who do these sort of books.. however, since that isnt my style, i decided to be true and honest and make it the best way i know how...  the theme is time.... i have a full schedule everyday and a long to-do list... so time is important to me... thus, the reason for the theme.... so here we have a self-portrait of me working on art, with my belly sticking out :)

here is the back cover of the book.... its another portrait of me trying to juggle the duties of baby (a girl... did i tell you its a girl?! haha)... now, i would never look this good at 6am- especially with these curls... but well, you get the gist.... tomorrow i will have images of the tag insert and more info on this project... but i really should go work on it while diego is away.... ah, i am really happy everything is working out today....

that was my weekend... on top of watching the football game... hehe... i have yet to work on the rest of my cover for the paperbag book swap... and a birthday card.... and more goodies for the shop.... hopefully, the next few nights will be utterly productive, eh!?!

millie is getting friends...

this past week, diego and i caught a cold... phooey... i fell behind on art and on top of trying to rest, there was a tad of guilt... the house needed cleaning, diego needed attention, i needed sleep, and art had to be done... but today is friday and all that i'm left with is a runny nose and a chapped upper lip... hehe... diego went to daycare today while i worked on millie's friends... they will be available in the shop between saturday and sunday...


i also rearranged closets in the attic since ramel and i had to move all our clothes up there... our room doesn't have a closet... and i managed to wash all the baby clothes that were gender neutral... those have yet to be folded but i can do that before i go visit our friend's gallery showing... oh, and i began miss quilty's sister (the photo above) but i am stumped on color.... can't choose blue... i always choose green... and i have so much paper, i wonder which will be the perfect color for her.... any ideas???? (apparently, i am not the only one who gets in a color rut- thank goodness... jen understands; her work is beautiful!!!!) i have yet to make a card for my mom's birthday too-  but i have til the 7th of february :)


hah, and i couldn't resist taking this photo... this was on thursday... when he was still under the weather... diego was sleeping on the bed with me, and suddenly woke up... he said something incoherent, got off the bed, and collapsed back to sleep on the floor... and he used my slipper as a cushion... he is my ham :) i am glad he is much better...

new products in the shop

yes, i finally made a notebook for the shop... this is an 8x8" notebook and it has quite the hip pregnant mama on the front... it's in my shop for $20... it'd make a great gift or a perfect journal for any expecting mama!


and here we have millie who loves making handmade valentine's day cards... this is a 4x6" mini folder and is perfect for holding those valentine cards, receipts, coupons, etc. This one is $12.00 and available only once...

 
both of these are 3x5" mini notebooks that are perfect for jotting down notes and making tiny doodles while waiting for that particular appointment... The first one has a vintage stamp on the front and the second is of cut paper bluebirds. To find out more info on these notebooks, please visit the shop... They are each $3.75

now, i am off to cook the chicken for the party... and ice the cake... and get the plates... and dice the cheese...

7mos and ava...

it's midnight and it's been 7mos now... i'm officially in my 3rd trimester.... you know, i swear, the belly looks bigger in the mirror but ramel says the photo captures it accurately... and the only reason i am holding my hand on my leg like that is to cover a glue stain- hehe- working hard on art prior to taking this....  anyhow, i'm pretty excited that the baby is growing so well... he/she is quite the active child too!!! i can feel something always kicking me in my bladder or my ribs... and he/she likes to ball up on one side- my right side... but the baby is always, always, always, rolling around in there... even when i have a stomach ache, this child moves.... i like that, though.... it lets me know that the baby is happy.... or at least, quite alert :)

over the weekend, we switched rooms... i have pictures but they couldn't be blurrier.... we have diego's room all fixed up, with the crib and all... and do you know, he climbed in the crib in the middle of the night and got stuck?! but other than that, he seems to handle the room switch well... and i like our new room too- we have a door!!! now, diego gets the curtain for his room- (this house came with a doorless room)....  all we need is a lock so diego can't just walk in anytime he feels like it.... our room is smaller but it has a cozy and warm feeling to it.... i'd say romantic, but i have a pound puppies blanket on our bed.... still, ramel and i are content with the switch- it only took a whole day to do including grabbing baby items in the basement and finding gender neutral clothes...

lastly, here is what i worked on sunday night... her name is ava, the dream angel... you can find her in my shop for $18.00.... i still have more to do tonight so i am going to cut this short.... thank you all for your kind comments and suggestions about printing... this week, i will be looking into it all...

back to the crafting table...

please help me!!!!!!

i am looking for good printing places... i want to get some postcards and perhaps, greeting cards printed out with high quality... and i want to use my own designs... but don't need huge quantities of each... and it would be nice if i could make an order of a 100 or so and be able to have more than one design... there is one place that i trust very well, but the minimum is 250 and for only one design... i'd like less than 250 and again, more than one design... so does anyone know of some good places?!? (and yes, i have an awesome printer at home but it is very time consuming to print here and well, i've always hated printing, even in college... oodles of problems occur when ellia gets hold of the printer)... i could really use some help here!!!! thanks!!!!

oh, and this is what i worked on today :) it was a custom greeting card for a friend... i made another one for her too- you can see it in my shop, either under for sale, or sold....

during tea time...

i've been invited to join risa's virtual tea party... and since i've had quite the busy week, with a darn busy weekend to follow, i thought i take up on the offer.... sadly, i can't take any good photos because my batteries keep dieing... maybe for valentine's day i will ask for rechargeable batteries...

however, i must relax, right?! my  tea time is nowhere near as sophisticated as it should be... here, i sit with my caffeinated chai (out of a tin, not even aunthentic chai) as i type while on the phone waiting... and waiting... and waiting.... i'm trying to get a hold of the insurance company, which is always busy... and then i am trying to get a hold of the dentist office, which leaves me on hold for over 6 minutes... i switch off calling both places, hoping to reach one of them.... and all the while, diego climbs on me as elmo discusses the issue of hats... so would you call this relaxing?

but i won't complain... at least things are getting done.... i have a few cards to make tonight after diego goes to bed... and then tomorrow we switch rooms- diego and the baby get the bigger room while ramel and i get the smaller one.... i will show photos of that (depending on my batteries' mood)- what nursery have you seen that is half full of superman stuff?! hehe... and after all the moving, i will be working on some notebooks for the shop... it's time i do more than just notecards, eh?! ah, a few more illustrations will be fun too but all in time... all in time....

well, it's time to get another cup of chai, figure out what diego and i will do today, and finish up on emails... thanks, risa for joining me :)

the boy loves basketball

Meet Junior. He's an 8 year old who loves basketball... Although Junior is the shortest boy in his class, perhaps shorter than most of the girls too, he is determined to play basketball as good as the pro's. He may not make many shots but he is one happy child with his ball, his li'l orange shorts,his knobby knees, and his old school sneakers. He's all boy, and this illustration says it all.

This is an original piece of work and available only once in my greenbeanbaby shop for $35.00, however, if you want a boy of a similar style, email me for more info.

okay, it's 1:15am and i think i did enough art for one day, don't you?! now, hopefully to sell it all, make some valentine cards, and a few more illustrations.... then, will my goals be complete...
