4th bloggy anniversary

hello all.... as you can guess, life has been utterly busy.... as i type, i'm getting ready to pull an all nighter to work on more designs for stamping bella, finish some illos, re-watch LOST season 3, and get my recipes ready for turkey day...

BUT in honor of my 4th blog anniversary [can you believe it?!], i am going to have a huge sale in my etsy shop on THURSDAY NOVEMBER 26, 2009... for TWO hours, every single thing will be on sale for $2.50!! yes, this is on thanksgiving day but between turkey and sweet potato pie, you might find time to buy some cute greenbeanbaby goodies!

so from 4pm to 6pm central time, i will post everything in the shop for $2.50.... be ready because once it's gone, it's gone!!!!!

autumn event today

The event is being held right NOW right here! from Friday, November 13, 2009 to Sunday, November 15th, 2009 you get the chance to purchase handmade embellishments for your personal needs. You can also purchase special designs by Blake Himsl Hunter and Eric Hancock. You can even get some goodies from Fun Old New's stash!!

an autumn event...

a sorely neglected blog needs something to spruce it up... and for that, we have Greenbeanbaby's Second Annual Autumn Event.... There will be more embellishments in stock including, devil boys, devil girls, angel boys, frida kahlo's, cat girls, superkids, and many more... and yes, you read that right- MORE BOYS!!!! after all these years, i'm trying to provide more males in the shop...

on top of that, there will be some SPECIAL collaborative goodies... The clever Digital Snowman has designed a few creatures and I've made them outta paper.... Even the talented Blake Himsl Hunter has illustrated a few creatures that will be available in paper version... On top of that, Ms. Fun Old New will be providing a few embellishments in a sweet lil package... To accompany each, there will be a cute papery button fairy...

fairytale event TODAY!

 

in just a manner of hours [7pm central standard time] a ton of embellishments will be uploaded in the shop... mostly fairytale characters, including edward scissorhands...

now, i couldn't make so many at once, but i do want everyone to get a chance to buy what they want... so in this event, i will have a special listing called "sold out items here"... in that listing, you will be able to purchase whatever embellishments sold out right away...

i'd like to say that all proceeds are going towards getting diego a puppy... after the incident [which i haven't shared but nonetheless sadly experienced] our family is in hopes of giving a teeny pup a good home here with us... diego wants another "bruce" and i am willing to take on such a responsibility to make my son happy!!!

the rest of the proceeds will go towards applying for my master's... so all the etsy funds will go towards a good cause... have fun shopping!!!

heart to heart

if we could see beyond the blog posts, and into the blogger's life, we'd see much more than those written words... perhaps the blogger has had a rough week, full of tears and frustrations, full of doubts that are sprinkled with discouragement... and who could really blog on such intimate details? it makes you realize that while we all have hard days, we never know how much one of us may REALLY need an encouraging word... and yet, sometimes without having to share such details, there are those who still encourage and uplift, not knowing how those few words can make a blogger feel less frustrated or less doubtful....

yes, we all can relate... we all have moments too tiresome to post about... or sometimes we know that tomorrow will be better so why dwell on today? perhaps we feel that if we share the details, it will make us look insane, or unable to maintain our emotions in a mature manner... who wants to admit when the bills have them too concerned to create artwork that is not paying those bills? or admit that their spouse has managed to boil their blood leaving them feeling like the incredible hulk but only not so strong, merely angry and at a loss of intelligence? who will ever post on how lonely they feel when they choose to pursue the truth? who will ever express their doubts on their success or lack, thereof?

sometimes, it's better we don't post the many perils of a blogger's life... we each have our rough weeks and we each need those light-hearted posts that fill us with inspiration and hope again...  we rely on each other's good week to make our own week a lil more manageable.... we are there for each other without ever really knowing the details... and that is okay... i love it that when there is no one around to listen to me, someone online has left a sweet comment... or when i feel most lonely, someone wants to "friend me"... does that sound silly? on the day where i feel most frustrated, someone sends me paper, caffeine, and chocolates... and they make something beautiful and precious for my kids... the day where i feel my artwork is becoming merely a hobby, i'm bombarded with compliments...

we shouldn't RELY on compliments, but its wonderful when they come when we need them!! and this post is a thank you to those who make a gal feel swell, even when you didn't know... and of course, i thank those close in my life, who never doubt or question who i am :)

a VERY wonderful sale

right now, all prints are on SALE in my shop... yes, they are older prints from ©2008 but they are only  $6.00 each... and if you buy two, you get ONE FREE!!

all proceeds go towards a mother and her baby... she's not in dire need but i'd like to send her a big box of goodies... would you like to help by purchasing some greenbeanbaby goods?!

working hard or hardly working?

okay, so greenbeanbaby really has been busy... if you are looking at my twitter, you can see it's been mostly about sketching, sketching, and more sketching... i have had to sketch out 25 different holidays, including cinco de mayo, st. patty's day, and several jewish holidays... it's wonderful learning about various holidays and expanding your knowledge in such areas... however, one must make sure that when it comes time to sketch them out, they are not in the least, stereotypical or offensive...

i'm not showing too much of my work in progress on my blog anymore... there is still a fear that someone will steal my artwork and make money on it before i get a chance too... heck, i'm just worried about someone stealing my artwork period!! a friend, who has been through such a situation, once stated that it felt like they were trying to be erased... and it DOES feel that way... you work so hard to create your style and work out your technique but haven't quite made it BIG yet... and someone beats you to it, using your work!!!! so when people see your work they think of THEM not YOU... you fall victim, while someone else fills their pocket... so my luster for blogging remains tainted by the past issues and current concerns...

on the other hand, i am still sellling my art AND creating!!! i am having a small sale at my shop right now, so if you are interested, all ORIGINAL illustrations have been marked down and there is free shipping!! all proceeds go to getting my dad and my husband father's day gifts :D it's definitely going to a wonderful cause!!

lastly, i AM on facebook now [as ellia hill, not ellia domena]... i am not that great at keeping up but i might end up slowing down on my blog even more and updating my flickr and my facebook more often... if you are on facebook, and wanna be friends, just holler! please make a note of who you are though- some of us only know each other by our blog names ;) again, i'm still working on keeping up on my wall [as well as everyone else's]...

well, i'm off to finish a few more sketches and get ready to have date night with my honey!

products, anyone?

i've mentioned to you that my camera is broken, right? it makes it hard to take photos when you have nothing TO take photos with.... my children will be undocumented for a month or so, and my blog may show images of the past, but oh well... it will only mean that my next camera will be even better!!!!

anyhow, with the new shop underway, i'm looking for a few suggestions... in the past, i have sold products including keychains, photo albums, notebooks, and a favorite, magnets... but everything was in such short supply and often sold quickly [what artist can compla?!]... i'm hoping to be able to offer items in bigger quantities soon!

i'm also looking into rubber stamps... for the longest, i've wanted to offer stamps with some of my characters but haven't had the resources or even the time! if i offered stamps, what sort of characters and themes would you like to see?

in fact, what sort of products would you like to see in the greenbeanbaby shop??? whether it's items i've offered in the past, or items NEVER offered, i would love to know... your help is greatly appreciated!

in the meantime, i have 25 more ideas to sketch out for illustrations... thank you all for sticking around despite my sporatic blogging and lack of illustrative content to show for... have a wonderful new week!

etsy shop update

so much for my daily blogging last week... i did play alot of video games, i caught up on some custom orders [ like this illustration above] and shipped them off, and spent time with my family...

but yes, i even updated my etsy shop... it will be the last shop update before i launch my new site [yes, it IS coming... after two years, or three now, but it is coming!!!] along with the site, there will be a new shop location and new goodies... all in the works... in the meantime, i've listed some illustrations in the etsy shop and they are on sale...  they are all older illustrations but available to you all...

so in the meantime, check out the illustrations... all proceeds will go to buying video games and paper- HAHA JUST KIDDING [kinda] :)

wednesday/thursday- promoting a shop

this post is going to be brief but sweet... as i've blogged before, my mom had a shop... however, she's recently gone etsy, and has moved her shop to here...

all of her prices are quite decent and affordable... with the way the economy is, there is little money to be spent on leisurely things... however, as we all know, a treat now and then keeps us all a sane and happy person... we can't go through life paying all the bills and not enjoy a movie now or then [or another paper pad]... my mom keeps her prices low so that people can enjoy shopping without it putting a hole in their pocket....

so if you are looking for some nic nacs, buttons, ric rac, a popple, or kitchen items, her shop is where you can look :)
