magnets galore

Blue mamas this post is going to be fairly short but with plenty of pictures... i am still behind on emailing people so all of you who have commented, i will respond soon.... i've been making some magnets lately in my oh-so-hot studio.... it's like a mini sweatshop only consisting of one person, a few bugs, x-files, and one little fan blowing hot air... at least my mood is better, artistically despite the 90º attic situation...

anyhow, meet simone's fairies... these are paper illustrated magnets that are about two inches tall...

Cherriesyes, with this new etsy re-stocking, i will be naming every item after my fellow blog and flickr friends... these are meadow's cherries which are really teeny tiny... they are about the size of a nickell....

Fairy mamasand these are aletha's fairy mamas.... also magnets...

Flowersthese are teeny flower magnets from julie's garden [these are also the size of a nickel]... actually, two are from this julie's garden... and two are from this julie's garden :)

Purple mama these are janae's angels... i don't have a link for janae but she is a one year old sweet pie who's mom is a beautiful lady... we have a son the same age, a daughter the same age, and we are both from the same city...

Cuppiecakes these are erica's cupckaes... these are also teeny tiny and were a doozy to glue the lil leaves on it...

DSCI0050 lastly, these are gracie's roses.... these are 3d paper roses that i made and mounted onto an old key plate... these are magnets as well...

enjoy all!! these goodies will be available in my shop on july 18th midnight, sharp!

what a week! warning: long post

2598663055_7810f94835

before i begin my long post, i'd like to tell you all that my mom has joined the blog world... be sure to check her blog out as she will be posting about her thrift store finds and rummage sale finds... she's including tips too!!!! she finds so many treasures, that she continuously amazes me... she has a flickr page as well but i'm glad to see her writing about her trips!

DSCI0174
on the other side, i'm STILL slow at blogging... life seems to be full of one thing after another... each one of my family members seem to be dealing with something leaving us all in dire need of a vacation... sadly, the closest we get to a vacation is a walk inside the local museum... and yes, i realized that seeing the stuffed animals and ancient artifacts at the museum was as close as i'd get to experiencing life outside of milwaukee... the closest i will get to texas is eating garlic texas toast... the nearest i will get to a giant body of water, is lake michigan...

Cake girl smallish
ok, can you see why i haven't blogged? dark satire, emotions that go this way and that, and the thought that i'm one year older in less than a week... of course, i'm only turning 27 so ONE DAY we will get our vacation... hehe... but every day there is a test to my emotions, my will, my actions... for instance, my paypal was hacked into... i'm nervous about using that account again so most likely, i will have to set up a new one for my etsy shop... i'm hoping this whole ordeal won't delay the re-stocking on the 18th... still, i'm left feeling nervous at what else this person has gotten a hold of... my empty bank account? my etsy shop? my blog? they have my address and my phone number...

DSCI0127
it frustrates me that someone hacked into my account and tried to buy so much stuff... i don't even spend that much in real life!!! i haven't seen money like that in my hands since i had to PAY my gas and electric bill... if i had a couple thousand dollars, do you think i'd buy video games?! first off, even if i DID buy a video game, i'd have gotten the lego's indiana jones... i'd buy dye for my graying hair! i'd get another haircut! i'd get myself a darn good sandwich at panera bread... i'd pay my bills, for goodness sake! it's a shame that something like this NOT ONLY affects me but it affects the sellers who got jipped out of a deal... i hope the person who did this gets caught and pays a hefty price [literally and figuratively]...

DSCI0095
it's not just this though... i have had to go to the doctor several times... isabella caught a contagious rash which left us homebound for a week... it's clearing up but it's hard to NOT get cabin fever in the house... by the time her rash cleared up enough to go out, we were all happy to take a walk to the park... she loves her new 20" baby [keep in mind isabella isn't even 30"] and she loves strolling her all about, regardless of her size... isabella is so funny even with her scabby lil feetsies... she is one serious gal who forever dotes on her brother and is forever handing out teeny kisses... and she is quite protective over her new "beh-beeee"

DSCI0110
and diego has had to see the doctor too... he was bitten by some bug not in the mosquito family... and only him... at first i thought it was flea bites caused by squirrels burrowing into the ceiling of his bedroom... we think he was just bit by a mite from outside but still, the kid has all these red marks on him... but nothing makes diego happier, than a new batman mask... diego LOVES his new mask and wears it everywhere.. to the museum, to the grocery store, at target, and of course to bed... the first day it was over 83º in the house but he wore his mask and long sleeved outfit... he told me "mom, my face is all wet!!!" then whenever we are in public, people will say "hey, look its batman!"... diego will tell me "wow, mom they know batman!!!! they know ME!!!" he trips me out, my diego boy!

Retro gals
overall though, things aren't bleak... i'll have more goodies to show you for the etsy shop by the end of the weekend... i have a couple sketches which were a trial to even draw!!! i had one of those moments where i say "i'm never gonna draw again... i'm gonna close my shop... i'm gonna quit blogging... i'm never cleaning this house again... i'm gonna make paper airplanes with all my sheets of paper".... yes, i did warn you all that my emotions have been a bit topsy right?! haha... i can laugh at it now, but trust me, i've shed some tears... i'm glad to have family and blogging friends to keep me inspired, encouraged, and motivated...

ah, now lets take a deep breath after such a post!

re-stockin' the etsy shop plus 5

Wonderoos lil well, there is finally a new date set for the re-stocking of my esty shop... july 18th is the date and there will be tons of sneak peeks up until that point... there will be paper goods and some other goodies in the shop so be ready! i hope this one wll have enough goodies for everyone :)... and there will be limited edition prints available too!!!!! yes, indeed i'm trying to mass produce without losing the essence of my greenbean baby art...

Flower girl small and mr. juan manuel [who does amazing paper art illustrations!!] tagged me for a 5 favorites meme...  this meme is about your 5 favorites of something so i chose modern television shows...

1. the office- this show is hilarious!!!!! any bad day can be lightened up with a bit of steve carell
2. x-files- can't NOT love this classic sci-fi show... mulder is really a hoot!
3. lost- hmmm, what else can i say except it's deep and intriguing?!
4. heroes- my new addiction.... i love how it has a x-men feel to it...
5. smallville- although lana STILL gets under my skin, i love how evil lex luthor is getting [his true nature]

and i'll tag miss kiwi, miss nyx, miss heather, miss simone, and mr. ramel...

a very abc baby book- pt. 1

Dsci0080_2

a while back ago, my good flickr friends blake and kristen said they were expecting a baby boy to be named ronan... immediately, i wanted to send them something meaningful, just as many other flickr friends did for my isabella... i began to ask several of our mutual online friends for their assistance and came up with the abc baby book project... 14 artists were assigned one to two letters in the alphabet to illustrate.... the originals were sent to me and assembled into a standard scrapbook book... although the book didn't make it to blake and kristen BEFORE ronan was born [as hoped for], it did finally make it to their home...

so now, here are half of the pictures along with a short biography of the contributing artists...

opinions, advice, tips...

Website_picture_8

remember back in january where i stated that my new website FINALLY had a construction page?? it only took several frustrating hours... since then, i decided that learning dreamweaver in a couple months was nearly impossible and that the online templates weren't that bad... not to mention, there are a few website savvy buddies who are willing to help out... for the most part, it's coming along okay... nicole even gave me a wonderful background!!

but now here is where i need your help... judging by the image above, what do you think of the layout?? i didn't make the tabs [they come in the pre-designed site builder] and i can't make them each a different color [as i wanted to].... i don't know if this is too cluttery of a website... i like simple, cute lovely.... do you think this is this a very greenbeanbaby website?

Etsy_picture

so far, i want to have these categories...

welcome: i guess this will be just an image with a quirky illustration? [got any ideas?????]

portfolio: a place where you can see selected artworks

shop: this will have images from my etsy shop along with the link [thank you etsy mini!!!]

downloadables: this is a spot where i may have a free cut paper template

contest: yep, i will have contests for free prizes...they may include trivia questions about my blog or about my current obsession [lost? smallville?]

journal:  my blog- i am  hoping i did this page right thus far... it's an external page with my blog address

about me: for most of you, this page won't be nothing new... if you read my blog and have been around for awhile most of you know i have two kids and love paper....

contact: another way to reach me, formally...

Problem_picture_2

i have a slight problem though... i can't figure out how to fix the tabs in a way that the viewer KNOWS what tab they are in... i mean, if you look at this image, you CANNOT tell that you are in the DOWNLOADABLE section... does anyone know how to resolve this issue? oh and my download button is sort of ugly and not in a spot where i want it... i think this is just part of the template but it bugs me... does it bug you???

please be honest [but not cruel]... i have only waited 6yrs to get my very own website up so positive criticism is greatly appreciated... also, please know that my big lettering is a call for help and i am not yelling at anyone- hehe... admittingly, my curls are a tad frazzled but that's to be expected, eh?!

what is beauty?!

Gracie_cards

beauty is a set of notecards handmade by gracie bella butterfly... perfect for using as thank you cards for any etsy sales... these li'l notecards are elegantly made and were a gift from miss gracie... beauty is miss gracie and her sweetness and kindness... i only wish the photo would have done her cards justice... actually, this is a scan [maybe i should've photographed?!] beauty is meeting wonderful and talented people like her who are supportive and giving...

Pict0761

beauty is watching your daughter grow up and take walking steps without assistance [or with any furniture nearby]... today she just hoisted herself up and took 4 good steps before she stopped, stood there, then plopped herself down... beauty is watching her give a stranger the mean look as she clutches for my shirt tighter...  it's nice to be loved...

Pict0801

beauty is trying to get a good mother/son photo while avoiding being tackled and strangled by that son who thinks its all a game... beauty is watching him grow up and talk more and clap whenever isabella stands on her own... beauty is watching him read a few words and seeing him carry a conversation on the phone with his gramma...

Pict0953

beauty is a  wonderful espresso machine... thanks to sweet margaret, she sent such a lovely lovely surprise... now i can finally use all my lactose free milk [that i won't drink unless making hot cocoa]... now, diego can have steamers without us spending money at starbucks... although it's only been 4yrs since i was a barista, i cannot wait to put the nearly forgotten skills to use... yes, beauty is not having to pay for a latte... beauty is being able to make 10 lattes in one day... beauty is having a friend sweet enough to send such a gift...

Pict0969

beauty is jewelry handmade by that same sweet margaret... as you know, i am a big fan of her work... she made this beautiful necklace and pair of earrings...  beauty is being able to look nice using jewelry as a tool... even though i  don't go out much, a mama needs to look pretty to feel pretty... now, just to get some blush and lipstick for my pale face ;)... the beads are emerald green [sorry again, for the lack of photography skills]

beauty is knowing it's a new year to grow, learn, and love... what is beauty to you?! make a post on this topic, and share your link :) i would love to read it!!!!

how many "hills" does it take to make a website?

Constructionpage

it takes two... two "hills" to make a greenbean art website page...

it begins with one mama hill to stay on the computer for four hours while the baby hills run around and play... it takes one daddy hill to do the laundry as the one mama hill cries from frustration... then it takes two baby hills to refuse to sleep while the one mama hill pulls out a few curls while trying to work on that webpage... then it takes one mama hill to freak out and get mad... so two adult hills argue a bit and one mama hill decides to play halo while daddy hill tries to start his webpage... it takes one daddy hill to stay up til 4am figuring it out while one mama hill sleeps even though the smallest baby hill wakes up... it takes two adult hills to apologize in the morning and it takes two adult hills to finally get the under construction page up...

it takes two... two "hills" to make a website page and to create a mighty night to remember... now, to think, these hills have to make two entire websites!

a nice way to begin the new year, right?! well, happy new year to you all and have a safe and peaceful night!

love from kerry...

Pict0161

blogging has been sporadic [due to unforseen circumstances] but the internet love hasn't stopped flowing... i was in the 2nd annual handmade holiday swap and  the other week kerry sent me such a beautiful package... the wrapping alone was dreamy, and of course, on top of the wrapped goodies, there was a bag of dark chocolates... kerry said i could wait until christmas to open it, but there was no resisting...

Pict0171

after carefully opening the packages [and saving the wrapping paper] i discovered kerry's beautiful handmade earrings! the brown and blue earrings are glass and oh so elegant!!!! the silver earrings are dainty too and match any sor to outfit... they are also comfy to wear [as you know, comfy is key when you have a baby girl who wants to rip dangles from your ears]... i never had so many darling earrings in my life and wish i had places to show them off :) maybe a new haircut will do the trick?! [and a bit of dye to cover up those pesky gray hairs- yep, you read that right]...

Pict0166

to match the earrings, kerry made this BEAUTIFUL scarf!! i mean, its truly elegant and also quite comfortable... she used kathy's tutorial and it is really made with care, quality, and delicacy... out of the two times i've been out of the house, i've gotten compliments on the scarf.... people are surprised it's handmade and are crazy about the color combination.... i love wearing handmade goodness and being able to tell others about the wonderful bloggers i'm honored to have swapped with... i only wish i had business cards from everyone to just give out and say "she made this- check it out"... hehe...

kerry sent such a sweet package and is patiently waiting for mine... yep, i fell behind on swapping and feel like  a horrible person [especially after writing that one post]... tomorrow i will give you all my excuses but seriously, all reasons aside, kerry has been so sweet and darling... she is truly a wonderful swapper and i am so grateful to have met her :)

cookies for the holidays

Imag0074

does your mouth ever fiend for  a sweet, buttery, and homemade cookie? do you try to make a batch only to discover that your oven doesn't work properly? perhaps, you have a loved one who has this same problem and you don't have the time [or skill] to make your own cookies for a present... either way, look no further, i found the most delectable cookie around!! well, actually, they found me...

miss angie of meliandangi have a wonderful new company... they make the most beautiful and delightful tasting cookies ranging in colors and designs... their website alone is to drool for... angie was sweet enough to send diego and i samples of their button sized cookies.... they came so beautifully packaged and were just so pretty to eat...

Cookies_2

did i mention how yummy they were? the photo above only shows a couple of the cookies she sent... the rest were eaten before my old camera had time to juice up... diego came home from school that day and was estactic to eat a green cookie with the letter "d" on it... and he thought they were just yummy yummy too... by the time ramel came home, there was only  a half a cookie left [and would've liked more]....

meliandangi cookies would make a perfect holiday gift... they are reasonably priced and definitely beautiful for any party, as well... you can also check out their new blog, and meet miss meli... so in case your oven is broken, or you have a person on your christmas list with a sweet tooth, or maybe getting a party together, don't forget about these delightful cookies.... they are truly delicious and made with care and love...

thanks so much angie for giving the greenbean family a taste of your goodness...
