eat your meat, baby!

Dsci0058
you know, i'm not a big girl... never was... i'm short and not even close to being a full figured gal... the other day i was looking at an old sewing book... late 1950's print... if you take a close look at this photo, check out all the sizes for these females... do you realize that i am considered an "under developed sub-teen?" those are EXACTLY my measurements... while some people may find that to be a good thing, i don't know if i like the idea of having a SUB teen figure... i'm not even a TEEN, i'd be a SUB teen!!!! and under developed???

Imag0126_2
granted, the way females are measured is differently these days... a size 12 back then is like a size 5 today... so while i have a retro measured figure, i really do look under developed compared to the girls these days... heck, there are 8yr old girls who put my figure to shame... my mom always says it's gotta be all the hormones pumped in the chicken.... and you know, she could be right... that is the ONE THING i didnt eat as a kid... i hated chicken... the veins made me gag... the cartilage made me choke.... the sliminess made me cry....

if only my mom would have told me to eat my chicken for the sake of having a body like a woman, and not a sub-teen... hehe... then i might have mustered up my courage and eaten some.... and maybe i wouldn't be blogging on such an off- topic.... maybe i wouldn't feel like i got jipped in certain areas of my figure...

still, you know, eating and feeding are such a chore at the hill household... i'm allergic to raw fruits and veggies... i don't eat meat... i don't like yogurt... in fact, i am lactose intolerant.... there is very little left on the menu for me to enjoy that is healthy... on top of that, i have a picky son who seems to dislike more foods than me.... and isabella is small but she likes to eat... however, finding something that ALL OF US can enjoy together is like trying to flap my arms and fly... a nearly impossible feat [ok, flying IS impossible]....

Dsci0045
my kids are energetic but are considered thin... i don't understand the way measurements are taken these days... we live in a society where thin is good... society complains of obese kids with diabetes... society protests the use of vending machines in the schools... and yet, my kids, who aren't chunky monkeys, are told they are TOO thin... my kids don't eat much junk food, they don't drink sugary drinks, and they don't watch oodles of television... they are more active than i can handle at times [using my couch as a trampoline]... i find this frustrating when society DOESN'T want obese kids but doctors DON'T want THIN kids... society WANTS our kids to eat healthy but yet, when my daughter wants fruits and yogurt that don't contain high calories, i am to feel guilty? maybe i should hand her a donut instead...

this isn't a thought provoking post... just a bit of a ramble slash rant...

You look fine to me Ellia! You are just naturally slim. With regards to finding healthy things to eat: have you tried stir fried vegetables? You can use the minimum amount of oil and add water to stop the veggies drying out. Baked and roasted vegetables are also good. My son used to love spicy baked butternut squash when he was a toddler!

I think most of us are genetically meant to be thin and small or bigger than average or in between really. I think eating meat and drinking milk because our parents' generation tells us or told us to is not sensible anyways. I think just eat as healthy as you can and play and the rest takes care of itself. :) (that goes for adults and kids).

HOLA TIENES UN BLOG PRECIOSO HACES COSAS MUY BONITAS UN BESO DESDE ESPAÑA

My kids have always been on the long and thin side, but that's just genetics. My almost 9-year-old daughter still has the waist of a 4T-5T. Nothing fits her properly. And it's the same way with my other two kids. I purchased a 2T swimming suit for my almost-three-year-old, and the bottoms are WAY too big. Sigh.

Like yours, my kids are very active. But they also eat, eat, eat!

PS - I think you are beautiful just the way you are. You are just naturally tiny. :-)

you have two beautiful, energetic children, so you must be healthy + you're gorgeous. how you all feel is more important than marketing-lingo in some arbitrary chart.

Some of us are meant to be small. God knew exactly what he was doing and I don't pay any attention to the doctors when they say Janae and Jamir are too small their mom is small and dad was small most of his life until he got in his late 20s. Your babies are fine.

Oh no! How discouraging! You are too thin and I am so fat I do not even register on the page -- I think my waist is now in the high 30s but looks about 100 and I'm 5'6"! Just goes to show you pregnancy was never considered normal; I am an alien with an alien inside me, fiddling with things.

Now, about that chicken... I totally understand where you are coming from with the gross out factor, but you don't even eat it now? And fruit and veggies??? I would die if I were allergic, especially to fresh figs. What about medium-rare prime rib? Or ribeye? Or fish? You do eat fish, right? Sushi?

Bottom line: you are absolutely delicious the way you are. Simply divine. Although I would have such a hard time taking you out on a dinner date!

Hey, the sweetest things in life come in small packages! ;)

You're beautiful, by the way! :)

this post made me laugh. You're gorgeous you sub-teen you! As an aside - can you eat cooked fruits and veggies? I have Food Pollen Syndrome and in particular I am allergic to Birch trees and all the fruits and veggies that have similar pollen structures. I can't eat soy - soy is in everything so I sympathize. Believe me, I sympathize. Just wish I had a less developed figure! hehe

Hehe you still look great! I'm sure plenty of people would love to have your figure now anyway.

As for food, it's difficult enough as it is. I think your feeding your kids well. Obesity is such a major issue with children so I don't think you have anything to worry about. Besides they are both still young I'm sure as they get older their body shapes will change =)

You are all absolutely adorable! I dislike the way society makes one feel. I have always been tiny. Since I hit my mid 30's I have finally got my "mature" shape, but am still considered thin.
My dear 80 yr old aunt who only sees me about once a year made a comment that bothered me last summer. This is how it went: OH Julie you look like you have put on some weight. Me: Gee thanks, I look fat? aunt: No, you look great now...I have always thought you were TOO thin. Me: gee thanks, now you think I looked anorexic the last 40 years of my life! LOL...she couldnt win and I couldnt either.

Just recently I have noticed the "pooch" belly and decided to eat healthier...like no cookies or desserts and watch my caloric intake. Nobody sympathizes with me(but my hubby and sister), they actually laugh at me or dont take me seriously. "Like you need to lose weight!" Those comments make me scowl. My hubby says it the best- If you are not happy with yourself that is your business, dont let anyone tell you how to feel.

I empathize with the "too thin", I would get those comments my child, teenage, and adult years. I ate everything I wanted when I wanted. It is just how you are made. psst..I wore a 3T dress to Kindergarten..hehe

You are a great mom and I am sure you are taking terrific care of your wee ones! Big or small-luv them all!

Hugs,

Julie (~~)
