an xbox birthday
on sunday, my hubby turned 25 and i threw him a small surprise party... all prep work was meticulously planned and executed through the wee hours of the morning.... cutting, gluing, and making papery xbox controllers as thank you cards for everyone... (all invitations were verbal)... no, i have not been slacking in the art department!!! anyhow, i researched the designs of xbox and realized there was an "older version" ... thankfully, i caught it before i began cutting.... i even found xbox font!!! because i worked in black paper, all details are hard to see... scanning was even worse! so, sorry about the low quality pictures- they do no justice! however, the lil joysticks stick out and i have all the details drawn in just like the real xbox controller...
i also made goody bags for everyone! in each bag there was chips, soda, candy, fruit snacks, rice crispy treats, and even lil army and ninja men! i found a bag of 52 plastic army men at the dollar store! since most of the games ramel likes are fighting games, i thought these toys to be appropriate! then i printed out pictures of several xbox games ramel and his buddies like, and quickly adorned each bag...
and here are some crafty magnets i made for the party too! yes, it was partially a joke... you know, making something so masculine into something crafty!?! i used felt, wood, buttons, and foam to make these babies... i wanted to just have them more for fun where the guys could toss them... but because they actually took more time than i imagined, i hope everyone actually keeps it- hee hee! and for the party, i packed a bunch of my crafty supplies, even some of my good paper (yeah, i really like you if i share my expensive paper!) and set up a craft table for those who wanted to release the "inner crafter" in them... but no one ventured in this activity but i bet someone wanted to!
balloons were blown the night before and stored away in my studio... as ramel got his mini fro buzzed off the day of the party, i sprinted around cleaning and
organizing while diego refused to nap... thus, he cried in his crib for
one hour straight, as balloons were taped up, tables were brought
down, and a tv bigger than me was moved to the kitchen (with only
minor injury to my fingers)... i even ironed my outfit the night before and hid it in the attic to change once i finished the grunt work... i had one hour to do all this! our buddy picked up the pizzas and my parents brought kfc and my sister brought the cake.........
yes folks, its an xbox cake!!!! my sister worked tremendously hard to make this and it turned out perfect! she recently started in the decorating of cakes and has managed to make a pineapple, a clacker, and now this!!!! isn't it lovely?! and it tasted wonderful too!!!! she surprised even me with the design... so i must say, this party turned out well and ramel was utterly surprised! all the people who care about him came and made this party a success!
* a side not: all the gifts ramel received were movie/dvd related, his other major collection... after all, ramel has over 60 xbox games, i don't think any of us wanted to attempt getting a duplicate ;)

WoW~! i am blown away by your creativity! what a sweet wife you are! it sounds like you busted your butt to make his party a success! what a cool-theme too. You are so inspiring :)
