kratos- god of war

Small_kratos

meet kratos... he is the god of war... well, in my version, he isn't the god of war yet... he's merely a boy, angry that his mother insists on him cleaning his room again.... he's upset that he is blamed for the mess in his room as there are little creatures that are the cause... his mother cannot see them though so this is where he begins his training on combating ugly demons... it is at this age, where he finds he is destined to be the god of war....

Ramel_kratos

and here is ramel's version of god of war... he's a bit more humbled compared to the "real" character but nonetheless, powerful... he is ready to fight any demon that crosses his path but he strategizes his path... and this is much like the look ramel gives the television when we play xbox 360... ramel's illustration is awesome and will be seen soon elsewhere...

Kratos3

and here is the REAL character... or at least a photo of the statue version of him... to be honest, i never played the game... i seen ramel play it on ps2 and it LOOKED good but i never sat down to play it... apparently kratos goes after all the greek gods...

all this began because ramel showed me his sketch and i thought, "wouldn't it be funny if i made a de-emasculated version of this fellow?!"

the confessions of an artist...

Dsci0062
sketching is a process for me... a LONG process... maybe it's partially due to the fact that i'm not that GOOD at sketching... it doesn't come easy for me... it's something that tests my self confidence and leaves me with less of an eraser than began... while i sketch, i sit near a garbage can filled with crumpled illustrations half drawn.... i fill my pencil with lead continuously and i'm surprised the bulb in my light table isn't burnt out from all the usage... the same illustration is drawn ten times over until it is p-e-r-f-e-c-t...

Dsci0072
now ramel is the king of sketching... he can illustrate a guy jumping over a moon in one shot, without an eraser within 2 miles... he can look at a picture of a zebra facing sideways and redraw it so that the zebra is facing the viewer playing a guitar and singing koombya.... he truly has the talent and the patience to match... it must be that patience part i'm lacking, eh?!

Dsci0091
i've been able to criticize my work with ease, understanding what i lack artistically... i can over analyze and give myself unsolicited advice... i am frustrated by my own limited skills.... perhaps my characters are too stiff... why do they always stand the same way?! and their hands! why can't my characters do more than just hold one object in one hand and use their other hand to massage their bony hips? how come my characters only have one emotion?! and why are their necks SO skinny? why are my characters always lacking nutrition and are thinner than angel hair noodles? and yet they have a gi-normous noggin!!!

Dsci0111
how my work turns out is NOT how i envisioned it in my head... in my head, my artwork is as detailed as the cistine chapel... my work is so good it can sit next to the mona lisa... in my head, i see my characters moving and jumping and laughing and talking non-stop... somehow, when i sketch and cut the papers, my brain doesn't register the same information to my hand... my work is not as grand... i can't find the right color... or i can't find the perfect pattern... how come the colors worked out in my head and not outside of it?!

Lil_carmen

it's not to say, i'm not pleased with my outcome... i can be satisfied with my illustration despite the fact that it's not as detailed as i first envisioned... and sometimes, it turns out better than i thought... like this picture of rosa... it's from the children's book, i'm working on... this carmen miranda impersonator sat in my brain for two years and while the colors were more red and orange in my head, i think the purple works better... i'm pleased with how rosa looks and even though she has one hand holding an object [and the other hand sitting on her bony hip], it's nice to see her alive... it's nice to know that all this sketching is leading somewhere...

so there is my confession... what is yours?

happy mother's day

sweetness all around

Dsci0048
summer is nearly here and i am so darn excited about it... this summer is completely different from all the previous ones as now, i have a nearly four year old boy who finds jumping off high places to be fun... he's more vocal and about 10x more energetic than before...  i have a one year old girl who loves her dresses and loves chasing her brother... i have two kids who enjoy each other's company and find that regardless of swarming wasps, the outside world is a place where you can holler as loud as your lungs mom allows....

Dsci0056
and this summer, ramel will be home more often... he just began a new job this week and it allows him to only have to work the normal 8 hrs a day... this is a BIG deal in the hill household as prior to this week, the man was doing about 13hrs daily... he'd come home to bathe and play with the kids.... he'd have less than 2hrs before both were put to bed... he'd go to work before they woke up... we'd squeeze our time in aside from fatigue, my artwork, etc. and somehow, our time always seemed interrupted... ramel has had absolutely minimal time to work on art... something he missed.... so, with this new job [and a promotion at that], he will get to enjoy the summer with us all... he'll be home while the sun still shines... we can go to the parks together and perhaps sneak in a movie... ah yes, it's going to be a treat!

Dsci0066_2
with this extra time of his, we both will have a chance to work on art and feel like our degrees aren't left collecting dust... while i've had my time to work on stuff, it's a completely different feeling when you have two people working on art early in the morning... or late at night... it gives you an extra oomph to create... the atmosphere is filled with creativity and inspiration.... it's a bit hard to explain but seeing my husband have a chance to do something he loves [sketching, painting, etc] is such a good feeling... it's attractive too :)... it reminds me of when we were first dating... we'd sit at coffee shops working on a project... we'd talk about what we wanted to accomplish.... somehow, back then we had a lot of conversations which is something i've missed lately... sure, discussing the children can be a good topic but the parents are important too, ya know?!

Dsci0069
so that is the good news... fun summer with the family... more time with the family... and now, more paper too!! yes, indeed!!! the other day, lisa said she had some paper for me... when i received the box, i was literally squealing at the OODLES of paper she included... isabella was to be my model for the photo of this wonderful package but she was too busy running off.... lisa musta sent me over 400 sheets!!!! sweetness, eh?! i spent all last morning and night trying to re-organize my papers but that will be saved for another post at another time... [brace yourself- hehe]

Patty_2
sweet patty also sent me some wonderful and beautiful papers that made me giddy with delight! kawaii stationery that is just to drool for!!! there are so many cute illustrations that it was hard to take photos that would do such a gift justice... if this doesn't jar a gal's inspiration and creativity, then what else will? i've been wanting to experiment with some new greenbeanbaby styles that are kawaii-influenced.... i don't wanna be a copycat but it'd be nice to something besides my usual gals with big eyes and a big head smiling away [although, kawaii art is that way too so what am i talking about?!]...

Patty_11
you can see more wonderful photos here... patty was just a doll to send so much beautiful goodness... and lisa too... i am grateful for all the love that has been sent to the hill household and hope that this summer our joy will radiate to your homes :) after all, we are all here to inspire, encourage, and motivate each other, right?!

we cannot forget one of the bestest days in the world is on sunday.... so until then have a happily splendid weekend!

a bit of retro love....

Dsci0037
it's 5:30am and the birds are chirping loudly... they almost sound angry.... ramel is in his studio shuffling through papers, getting ready to sketch... the smell of coffee lingers up to my room, giving me hope that this tiredness would shake off... an old movie plays in the background, enticing me to put an "i love lucy" dvd on instead... the kids are sleeping soundly and the day begins quite peacefully... this mode is rare and reminds me of how life once was prior to kids...

Elephant_1
nowadays, it seems like everything has changed... blogging and emailing are often done while the children play in their room, only for both to have to go to the bathroom.... or perhaps, isabella keeps stealing his toy... roaming hands try to click on the mouse but both kids want to climb on my chair and my lap... if i don't wake up at 5:30am, this is how the conversations usually go...

"what's that, mami?"

"that's an elephant.... isabella, don't touch"

"that's berry nice! i make a green butterfly"

"yes, and you did an awesome job!"

"oh.... mami your birthday party soon?"

"mm hmm"

Elephant_2

"then it's my birthday party?"

"mm hmm"

"tomorrow?"

"no diego, you have to wait a few days... a few months, in fact"

"i have my party another day?"

"yep!!!"

"and people will sing to me?"

"of course we will"

Patty_7

"and i will have cakes?"

"mm hmm"  [sniff sniff.... the smell of a dirty diaper turns my stomach and a giggling girl runs off]

"i want a green party"

"ok diego! but you have to wait!! don't worry, we won't forget about your party... hold on cuz i have to change isabella's diaper"

"baby girl went poopoo?? i wanna see!!!"

"no diego, that's gross... but you can hand me the w---- isabella, stay still!!! hand me the wipes, diego... "

"ewwwww that's disgusting!!! mami, i'm thirsty. i want water"

"ok but how do you ask"

pause... mami, i-want-water-PLEASE-may-i-have-some?"

often my blog post is left in the drafts folder as water is served, a child is put on the bus, another is put down for a nap, a few phone calls to companies requesting money, and some coffee re-warmed 2 times over... while i wouldn't trade my life with anyone, sometimes these peaceful early mornings are to be cherished [even if i just wanna go back to bed]

happy thursday!

eat your meat, baby!

Dsci0058
you know, i'm not a big girl... never was... i'm short and not even close to being a full figured gal... the other day i was looking at an old sewing book... late 1950's print... if you take a close look at this photo, check out all the sizes for these females... do you realize that i am considered an "under developed sub-teen?" those are EXACTLY my measurements... while some people may find that to be a good thing, i don't know if i like the idea of having a SUB teen figure... i'm not even a TEEN, i'd be a SUB teen!!!! and under developed???

Imag0126_2
granted, the way females are measured is differently these days... a size 12 back then is like a size 5 today... so while i have a retro measured figure, i really do look under developed compared to the girls these days... heck, there are 8yr old girls who put my figure to shame... my mom always says it's gotta be all the hormones pumped in the chicken.... and you know, she could be right... that is the ONE THING i didnt eat as a kid... i hated chicken... the veins made me gag... the cartilage made me choke.... the sliminess made me cry....

if only my mom would have told me to eat my chicken for the sake of having a body like a woman, and not a sub-teen... hehe... then i might have mustered up my courage and eaten some.... and maybe i wouldn't be blogging on such an off- topic.... maybe i wouldn't feel like i got jipped in certain areas of my figure...

Dsci0009
still, you know, eating and feeding are such a chore at the hill household... i'm allergic to raw fruits and veggies... i don't eat meat... i don't like yogurt... in fact, i am lactose intolerant.... there is very little left on the menu for me to enjoy that is healthy... on top of that, i have a picky son who seems to dislike more foods than me.... and isabella is small but she likes to eat... however, finding something that ALL OF US can enjoy together is like trying to flap my arms and fly... a nearly impossible feat [ok, flying IS impossible]....

Dsci0045
my kids are energetic but are considered thin... i don't understand the way measurements are taken these days... we live in a society where thin is good... society complains of obese kids with diabetes... society protests the use of vending machines in the schools... and yet, my kids, who aren't chunky monkeys, are told they are TOO thin... my kids don't eat much junk food, they don't drink sugary drinks, and they don't watch oodles of television... they are more active than i can handle at times [using my couch as a trampoline]... i find this frustrating when society DOESN'T want obese kids but doctors DON'T want THIN kids... society WANTS our kids to eat healthy but yet, when my daughter wants fruits and yogurt that don't contain high calories, i am to feel guilty? maybe i should hand her a donut instead...

this isn't a thought provoking post... just a bit of a ramble slash rant...

another project completed...

Dsci0111
i haven't been lazy, you know... between kids, home owning, halo, marriage life, and everything in between, i've managed to do a bit of art here and there... around january 2007 [yes, over a year ago], theresa had a wonderful idea of getting 6 ladies together to do a paperbag swag book project... we each start out with a book and decorate it... then we send it to one of the members and they decorate a spread... this keeps happening until all 5 other members decorate your book... while this project was to take 6 months, we managed to spread it out to 16 months... as you can see the books are getting pretty fat...

Dsci0130

i only have 2 more books to illustrate... although, today one is being sent off, COMPLETED!! i've been stuck on mimi's book for 9 months and can proudly say, it's something [hopefully] worth the wait... the above photo is the inside of my spread.... or rather, it's the outside... when you pull the flower, you see the illustrations...

Dsci0120

like this....

Dsci0116

now, mimi is one awesome dollmaker... "mimi likes to sew".... she even made miss isabella a darling sweater baby that sleeps with her nightly... i wanted to do an illustration of mimi sewing one of these dolls and managed to make a decent layout [after upteen attempts] portraying this talent of hers... the lil doll is under 2" tall...

Dsci0117
and "mimi likes to travel"... although i'm not sure if she's been to paris, this illustration was the easiest and most fun to create... simple colors, simple design, and simple layout... this one is my favorite especially since i've had that background paper forever and FINALLY found a good use for it....

Dsci0118
"mimi likes to garden"... i think she does... at least, all her dolls have beautifully embroidered felted flowers... she takes pictures of her dolls in gardens... i wanted this spread to emulate these factors so hopefully it panned out as so... this was the doll that inspired the spread most...

Dsci0119

and lastly, "mimi likes herself'... why shouldn't she? she is a wonderfully talented woman who creates the most unique and well crafted dolls around... she is sweet and tenderhearted [and oh- so- patient]... her book theme was called identity and while i tried to portray this theme throughout all the illustrations [by showing what makes her mimi], this was also meant to show her joyfulness...

Dsci0124
when you open up all the pages, it looks like this... while each person in the paperbag swag project was to illustrate only one spread, a trend began on how to add pages TO those pages... i think it began here and soon became the norm... it's been a fun project thus far but we are all looking forward to wrapping it up and seeing our own book again....

there will be several posts this week to make up for my lack of rambling... but hope  you enjoy this wonderfully new week!!!! the hill family will :)

a very abc baby book- pt. 1

Dsci0080_2

a while back ago, my good flickr friends blake and kristen said they were expecting a baby boy to be named ronan... immediately, i wanted to send them something meaningful, just as many other flickr friends did for my isabella... i began to ask several of our mutual online friends for their assistance and came up with the abc baby book project... 14 artists were assigned one to two letters in the alphabet to illustrate.... the originals were sent to me and assembled into a standard scrapbook book... although the book didn't make it to blake and kristen BEFORE ronan was born [as hoped for], it did finally make it to their home...

so now, here are half of the pictures along with a short biography of the contributing artists...

interview with mikey freedom...

52947118_e2ed845653

A few months back, i began setting up interviews with other paper artists. This was a way [i thought] to inspire people who enjoy the same medium, as well as get a chance to see how differently people can work with paper... Having the cut paper illustration group on flickr, i have met many talented artists who push the boundaries for such a simple and common [and often inexpensive] medium... Mikey freedom is one of those artists, who happens to do an array of work, including tattoo design. But of course, you have to love this guy's collage art!!!!

So, who is mikey freedom?
My name is actually Michael Lothian. My website is called "Enter the Sunset". My artwork is formed from the need to purely create and gain sustenance from the colour and stroke of a brush. I am Driven to paint, collage and produce works of personal and Social importance. My motivation is found within my family life, my wife Sophia (who is my partner in all of these artistic pursuits!), being of Polynesian descent, along with my three children and where opportunities to travel the South Pacific have enriched my subject matter.

1533898570_f9ff883874

You work in several mediums and styles of art. However, why collage?

Collage has always remained an intensely fond medium for me, there is something special about collage when done with attention to line, color and shape. It has the ability to cross the divide between child and adult sensibilities. It is automatically inviting and purely honest. It does not discriminate towards its viewer!

Collage is the sort of medium in which I feel all aspects of my art practice are brought together. When I cut paper I approach it as though I was drawing. I do not draw a guide or sketch to aid my scissors or scalpels, I purposely cut freehand and cut shapes by sight and intuition. I feel most comfortable collaging in this method. I rarely use pre-colored papers, preferring to paint my own papers, as I enjoy the process of mixing paint and painting paper. Collage will always remain my passion, to which I have an unending motivation for!

69957763_02213adeb9

Who influences and/or inspires you?

My strongest influences in collage would be Henri Matisse, Romare Bearden and Pablo Picasso. I am also inspired by the work of Eric Carle, and the illustrations of Charley Harper, Bernie Fuchs and the brilliant paper engineering of Carlo Giovani, to name but a few.

Who or what inspires your theme in your artwork?

The majority of my works theme is based on the majestic islands that form modern Polynesia, many people have depicted Polynesia, though I attempt to express it in a true and honest manner, reflecting its rich culture, history and it's people!

767492098_67e7339717

Aside from being a collage artist, what else do you do?
For over ten years now, I has also worked as a High School Art Teacher and lectured at universities on various aspects of Art.

I have also worked extensively as a muralist and community artist, having painted for councils, welfare/youth centers, private business, festivals & concerts, facilitating workshops with marginalized and disadvantaged youth. From major business corporations such as MTV, Sony etc, to painting live on air for Foxtel’s Channel V, my experience is assuredly wide. I have appeared and done work (art) on television & Radio, including magazines and newspapers.I also do Tattoo & Graphic Design.

Lastly, where else can we find you and your work?

I have a new shop open so be sure to check it out and tell me what you think. You can also find me on flickr as well as red bubble. Of course you can check out my website, and/or my blog.

one year older, baby...

Dsci0041

isabella is officially a one year old lady!!! weighing in at 17 pounds 2 oz and measuring 24.25 inches long, she is considered healthy [but a tad thin]... she has 2.5 teeth and seems to be wanting to talk to us all... on her birthday, sarah sent her some homemade cookies.... as i was taking the photo, miss baby girl snatched the cookie and took off to another room to eat it!!! with a trail of crumbs behind her, she attempted to shove the whole thing in her mouth, all the while giving me this "yeah, i'm cute" grin....

Dsci0087

and you have to admit, she IS cute... she has so much personality packed into her lil self... she was quite involved during her birthday party too... not really fussing over the crowd of people and DEFINITELY enjoying her gifts... i don't remember diego really even wanting to SEE his toys but then again, we were at  a park with an open field for him to run... anyhow, isabella received outdoor toys for our summer fun... clothes... shoes... a burping baby doll and a cabbage patch... as well as many more goodies...

Dsci0071

diego was in the mix of things too... and i have a confession... i was one of those people that felt strongly that ONLY the birthday kid should get gifts on their birthday... i  heard stories of moms who would get toys for ALL their kids so they wouldn't feel bad... the one day that is all about you and EVERYONE GETS PRESENTS TOO???!!!!  thus was my perception sometime after diego but before isabella...once we started buying gifts for isabella [especially big items] diego was considered... "oh this will be awesome for THE TWO to play TOGETHER".... for a moment i thought isabella was getting jipped because her big toys were for ages 1-3 so the act of sharing was inevitable...

Dsci0048

like this one set [that she opened up the night of her birthday- two days before the party]... when diego saw the animal set, all he could think of [and declare] was isabella sharing... at first i told him that it was only HER gift... but then, i remembered how quickly he shares his brand new toys with her, even if she eats them... he gets 4 li'l iron man toys, and he took two and gave her the other two... if he is playing with a batman, he will find her another batman to play with... so why shouldn't she be able to share too, right?! when we opened up this gift, he was mad happy and more thrilled than she was!!!

Dsci0007

point being, diego wasn't left out of the party.... he was a big helper and he even got his own set of outside toys from his grandparents... his uncle and aunt bought him a spiderman too!! it was a wonderful weekend filled with sharing and love and celebration... a celebration for my beautiful isabella who has blessed us so much throughout the year with her love, charm, personality, and individuality... she is compassionate and dotes on her brother and daddy... if diego cries, she will too... if daddy comes home, she runs to him with open arms and a pouty face... and i guess i'm her giant teddy bear :)

Isabella_invites

happy birthday isabella!!! and thank you blogworld for sharing this year with us!! if you want to see a few more pix, check out my flickr page...

the problem

Cathy_paperbag_3

are  you tired of making to-do lists but rarely getting to cross every item off as "done?" do you have oodles of art projects in dire need of attention and completion? are you tired of feeling the incredible guilt of taking a moment to rest KNOWING there is so much you could do BESIDES actually sleep?? are you frustrated that there are far too many things undone and little motivation to push you? are you sick of not meeting deadlines and knowing all you have to do is give a handful of excuses as to why you're late? are you angry at yourself for being lazy despite the fact you do a thousand things in a day [and these thousand things are the same things you have to do EVERY day... and no matter how many times you clean that bathroom, it gets dirty... no matter how many times you do dishes, there is another dish left on the table with crusted cheese begging to be scraped off... no matter how many times you sweep, there is a little kid pretending he is cookie monster and putting crumbs on the floor] are you fed up with yourself for falling asleep and dreaming of someone yelling at you for that project they waited ages for????

Mimi_bag

if you are experiencing some or all of these symptoms, then i feel you! we are rowing the same boat and feeling the same guilt and in need of the same motivation.... of course, if only father time would grant us a few extra hours then we wouldn't be in this pickle but he isn't that generous... we all need a boost... we aren't in school and we don't get a poor grade if our project is late... we aren't getting paid by the hour for these projects so we don't get the satisfaction that on friday, we get our money's worth... we manage our time as best as possible and yet it could still use a bit more management skills...

Dsci0241

so in saying all this, i set up a wee bit of fun for those of us who want to participate... check on the side of the blog for more info on the spring clean-a-thon...

to infinity.... and beyond

Dsci0126

hello... hello... hello! have you missed the ramblings yet? excuse my absence but there has been so much going on... although, most of it isn't interesting enough to blog to you about... i mean, would you like to hear how we cleaned out our yard? or how my mom helped me organize and clean our basement? or how our washing machine broke? or how i had a stomach ache from drinking milk? nah, none of that is quite as intriguing... of course we could always discuss the greenbean babies but as far as art goes, there is not much to REALLY show for [just yet]...

sketch peeks:
after months of sketching, procrastinating, sketching, thinking, and dreaming about the children's book, the first process of it is finally complete... all 32 sketches are hashed out with revisions on the way... choosing a font is now the new focus of the and it's not as boring as it sounds... it's actually one of my favorite things about design- typeography... not that i'm a pro, but going through hundreds of fonts on my computer and activating the coolest ones is kinda fun... still haven't found the perfect one yet but  there are several ones on the MAYBE list... so see, work is being done [slowly but surely] this weekend, i will try to put up photos in flickr of a few of the sketches.. now that they have video on flickr, who knows??!!!!

Dsci0003

website update:
here is the money question: that website of ellia's... will it ever be complete?! yes but i have to push the date again... the children's book took precidence and now isabella's birthday party is around the corner... i want to have some special goodies available including some stuff for the shop... a few full sized illustrations, a few special packs, maybe some notecards... i don't want to have the site up and my etsy shop void of goodness, ya know?! so please bare with me and my delay on this site.... i feel foolish that it's taking THIS long already >guilty sigh<

Dsci0191

kid smiles:
well, here is isabella's... her, with a bit of food on her cheek... can you believe she will be one next week?? boy, how time flies!! i ordered thank you cards from diane and cannot wait to see how they turn out!!! we will be eating cupcakes and celebrating my baby girl's first year on the planet... gosh, i can still remember [vividlly] the day she was born... actually, the thought of those hours of labor, knots my stomach up... but i remember how well she blended into the family and how quick diego took to his baby sister... and now, look at them!

Dsci0237

paper game purchases:
i haven't been able to play xbox too much, as our membership expired momentarily... as a "thank you for helping me out with my etsy shop" gift, i bought ramel the pirates game... and as a "congrats on your etsy sales" gift, ramel bought me thrillville....  thrillville is some fun stuff since you get to maintain and build up your own theme parks!! the pirates game is pretty fun too although i dislike finishing a board knowing i didn't get the achievement [shall i admit that the first board was done over 5 times just to get 25 achievement points?!] we thought it was two-player but it's not so we take turns... and ramel does all the hard parts :)

sorry this is such a bland blog post but soon, the greenbean baby will have much more to share.... [including some more paper artist interviews :)]

new week, new updates...

2368133436_92cf483127_o

thank you all for your support and kind words over the weekend... the etsy re-RE-reopening was a success and there are only 14 items left... guess it's time for me to make more, right?! well, the website still needs to be divvyed up and published... once that is up, there will be [hopefully] new goodies available including a few of my illustrations... the set date for the greenbean art site is april 11th... again, i hope it's well worth the wait and not a disappointment to any of us [yep, self included]

Dsci0034

boy, there are many projects to complete still, aside from the website... the children's book has been pushed on the backburner but is in dire need of attention... there are only a few spreads to sketch out so there isn't a need to procrastinate... time to sharpen the pencil and get to working...

An_apple_a_day_2

there are a few custom illustrations to make, incuding my niece's birthday illustration... [i can't remember if these ramblings were blogged on recently] every year i make her an illustration and every year the illustration is late... last year, she didn't even get one... so this year, i wanted to make her a bigger one with 2 characters [to make up for last year]... i'm pretty sure it will be a superhero theme... whether its girls dressed in superhero pj's or gals dressed AS superheroes, is still unknown... i hope she likes her own lil gallery of greenbeanbaby work and will save it for years to come... i should do this for my kids too but i thought they might get sick of my work faster than ananda... my mom informed me that she enjoys my work so much that receiving one yearly would be a great tradition for her too... who can resist a mother's request?!

Dsci0008

aside from that, we have family life busy and more busy... last week was spring break for diego... he was excited to get back to school and play with kids his own age... not to say, he didn't have a good time here but we all know i'm not a preschooler [and try as i might, i can't play or think like one]... and we know that isabella is not even a toddler, and try as SHE might, she can't keep up with her brother either...

Dsci0093

speaking of isabella... she turns one very soon!! that means, she gets to enjoy the wonderful taste of whole milk... it wasn't until recently that i've really enjoyed the fact that her teeth came in so late... she has learned how to use them thus making nursing a fearful event [for me]... i've even called the doctor to see if we could her give her a bit of pediasure... the okay was given and lemme tell you, she loves it!!! just like diego, she clutches that sippy cup and squeals with delight... and when she drinks a bit, she seems a bit drunk- all giggly and swooning everywhere... yes, she is growing up so fast...

she's awaken from her nap so it's time for our lunch...

stay tuned for sketch peeks, kid smiles, photos of paper purchases, and website updates...

midnight!!!

Pink_wonderoos_1

in less than 10 hours, all the goodies will be up in the shop and ready for sale... at 12:01 -12:20am central timezone on march 28th, the greenbean etsy shop will be stocked to the brim... please understand that it does take a bit to load all items in the shop...

Elephant_1

there will be unique notebooks and a few retro notecards too... hopefully all the prices are reasonable for everyone... and hopefully there is something for YOU!!! if by chance, something has already been sold, and you wanted it, let me know... i will see what i can do but there are no promises...

Tea_girl_1

this is short and sweet, as my mom is watching the kids downstairs... and i am working on art all day to make as much as i can for the shop... coffee is brewing, and while i am extremely tired, there is plenty of excitement left in my system :)...

see you soon and don't forget more sneak peek photos are right here...

2 hours for you, 6 hours for me...

Photo_lover_front

dividing our time is not an easy task, especially if you are a mother who illustrates and crafts but refuses to do so in a dirty house... as ramel has been home more, he gets even less time to himself and thankfully won't complain... there are 4 days until the grand re-re-reopening of the etsy shop... the minute ramel gets home from work, he offers his help... from cooking to bathing the kids to running to the store to get me more glue, ramel deserves an award... of course, it does give him time to enjoy the kids but sadly, our own time is sacrificed...

Birdy_girl_ntbk
in the meantime, i've been working hard to make the illustrations and etsy goods in the midst of spring break... diego is home from school for a week and to prevent us from having cabin fever, we may make rice krispie treats... [not like either of us needs more sweets, eh?!] we read books and chase isabella and play a few games... it's a fun time for us but my own time is even more scarce.... blogging is done in spurts as i am interrupted with his potty breaks, snack breaks, his questionnaires of what i'm doing, and his request to use the computer.... my, how my sweet diego has grown and learned to chat up a storm... i wonder where he got that from?!

Wonderoos
it looks like my website won't be officially up on march 28th... please forgive me!! as i've said, there are many things on my to-do list to complete and each require care, time, and precision... we can't forget the children's book... or the abc project... or blogging about other paper artists.... or my niece's birthday illustration... my plate is full... each project deserves the appropriate time, so i don't want to rush things too much... by friday, i will have a new date for the website opening.... and it will be worth the wait [yes?!]

Blondie_magnet
there are still 30 more items to make for the shop... magnets... framed illustrations... photo albums... notebooks... i don't think i'll have the time to make notcards this time... you can see a few more sneak peeks here... i will be TRYING to do a quarterly restocking of the etsy shop.... this way, i won't have to call it the "grand re Re re RE opening"... [i lose tracks of all those "re's"]... by that next quarter, ramel's website should be up too... he has such an awesome idea for his site, he has ME on edge, anticipating... so once april comes along, it will be his turn to get his art time... and my turn to not complain :) hehe...

Dsci0002
side topic: i got a new camera!! and it works like a charm... around christmas time, ramel bought me a digital polaroid that was just a beauty!!! shortly after the computer catastrophes and sewage issues [and various 2008 dilemmas], my brand new camera just fritzed out... on january 25th, it was sent back for a replacement... a box with my NEW camera was sent here thursday [over 8wks later]... did i say, it works like a charm?! now you can see more of my cute isabella and handsome diego here...

and now, it's time to make us all something to eat...
